Charitable Support Provided in 2018
Myanmar
In light of very challenging living conditions throughout many parts of Myanmar, we worked through two small, dedicated non-profit organizations with specific, firsthand experience in that country, in order to address basic sanitation, hygiene and flood control needs at different orphanages:
Palaik monastery [Mandalay]
Charitable funding covered the construction of modern toilets as well as related sanitation and hygiene needs for the Palaik monastery, which houses and cares for approximately 20 children under the age of 14, who have no parental oversight or support.
Adonai Child Rehabilitation
This project involves repair of the drainage wall and construction of meaningful flood control to prevent flooding of the Adoani Child Rehabilitation orphanage, especially during the daunting monsoon season (March – October). This facility currently accommodates 9 residential orphans and 21 daycare/pre-school children.
Tanzania
The availability of potable water, coupled with challenging drought conditions, are problematic throughout many parts of Tanzania. Since there is significant rainfall during certain times of the year, the collection and storage of rainwater is relatively commonplace – and critically important – as an effective way of supplementing other sources of water.
In our continuing support of The Baobab Home, a small, family-run orphanage in Bagamoyo, Tanzania, our funding this year provided a long hoped-for rainwater collection system, including a large water storage tank.
Viet Nam
The Huong Duong Center is an orphanage in Viet Nam that provides housing, meals and education for 40 children who have no parents.
Continuing our long-standing focus on clean water, the Andreas Moritz Light Trust granted funding for the creation and installation of a much-needed water filtration system for this care giving facility.
Charitable Donations
Your contribution will give children without parents opportunities for a brighter future. We want you to know that we are very conscientious about keeping administrative costs to an absolute minimum. In fact, over 99% of the charitable donations received are directed toward projects supporting the children.
All charitable donors (individuals, groups, companies and organizations) will receive a receipt from the Andreas Moritz Light Trust, a non-profit foundation with 501(c)(3) designation in the USA, that a bona fide tax-deductible charitable donation has been made in the USA and, therefore, can be applied to one’s tax return in the USA (acknowledged by the Internal Revenue Service as a legitimate charitable deduction).
Since we are not aware of the specific rules or policies that apply to tax-deductible charitable contributions in other countries (outside of the USA), we recommend that you please consult with your tax advisor or accountant for insight into this for the country in which you live.
